Many a coincidence calls itself fate

Whether by chance or a greater mandate

Fate had demanded for not a debate 

But brought pain, strain, and shame to end the late date

It's not over yet, hope is a step out of darkness

To forgive yourself, must know to not be so heartless

Don the robes of a promise

Keep the birds in your pocket

We'll root for you regardless

We are so thankful for what we've been through -

Me, her, and hopefully you

Through all conversations 

    our feelings could bloom

And yet. I still feel so unsure

I'll wait for my phone to start ringing someday

Until then, I will think of you, taken away

Like tonight, I hope, took by exhaustion's wave 

Day by day, until that one fateful day,

    someday 

Should have had more said, more done, more given, more taken.
